Bluffing Your Way to Win Money in Poker

One of the winning factors in poker is bluffing and it is also a skill of a poker player that helps them make their way to win the money at stake on the pot. Bluffing is considered to be a skill as well since not all bluff has a winning factor once used incorrectly especially in an untimely manner.

Not all poker winners are able to play with good starting hands. But because of their ability to bluff, a player is able to manipulate the game outcome to side on their favor.

Many poker players are able to pull off a successful bluff that gives an inferior hand the winning chance to the pot over a superior hand. The essence of bluffing is to play an inferior hand but representing it to the opponents as a strong hand and to make them believe you. Hence believing the bluff will cause them to fold their good hands over your weaker hand.

There are basically two kinds of bluff namely the semi-bluff and pure bluff. The semi-bluff is usually employed by a poker player when they call on a hand that actually needs improvement and is probably not a better hand than their opponent's.

The pure bluff is used by a player when the actual hand they are playing has no winning potential yet they raise or bet in the light of hope that their opponents will fold.

Knowing when it is best to make a bluff will help a player identify situations where bluffing can help them win money in poker. Players who are playing in the late position can bluff when there is no player who earlier presented a strong hand.

Furthermore, playing a hand with the potential to improve later on can also merit bluffing as well as players who have strong reputation of being a tight player where opponents believe they are always playing a strong hand. Bluffing is also at its best when you think your opponents are weak players.

Bluffing however is not feasible to do at times when the opponent is not showing any sign of folding and against players with huge bankroll that raising a bet against them is not enough to force them to fold their hands. With many players still playing, bluffing should be used cautiously as there might be one player with strong hand who is unwilling to fold their best hand to give up their chance to win the money on the pot.
